MARLUX curtains, treated with Microban antibacterial SilverShield technology, provide protection against pathogens to help reduce the risk of HAI’s. The antibacterial technology is built-in to the curtain material as a standard to provide durable, long lasting protection.

The Care Quality Commission guidance stipulates that disposable privacy curtains should be changed at least once every 6 months. This guidance follows the Health and Social Care Act 2008, Code of Practice on the prevention and control of infections and related guidance. The CQC explicitly stated in October 2015 that, as part of their inspection, they are looking for: “a system in place to ensure that curtains are cleaned or changed at least once every 6 months”. The guidance from both the Infection Control Nurses Association and the National Patient Safety Agency reiterate the same responsibility for procedures to be in place.
